3-2-1 strategy, cloud sync vs. backup, and testing restores.
The 3-2-1 rule
Keep at least three copies of important data, on two different media types, with one copy offsite (cloud or rotated drive stored elsewhere).
Sync is not backup
OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox sync deletions and ransomware changes quickly. Use a dedicated backup product with versioning and retention policies for business files.
Test restores
Schedule a quarterly restore of one file and one folder to confirm backups are healthy. Untested backups are only a hope — not a plan.
